The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice is accepting applications for full-time and part-time Resident Specialist positions at the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center in Chesterfield County.

FULL-TIME

Applications for full-time positions can only be accepted through the Commonwealth of Virginia’s recruitment management system at www.jobs.virginia.gov. The starting salary for Resident Specialist I positions is $41,894 but negotiable commensurate with qualifications.

  • Shift 1 - This position is an eight-hour shift (5:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.) assigned to work weeks that run Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, based on operational needs, and offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus (does not apply to current state employees).
  • Shift 2 - This position is an eight-hour shift (2:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) assigned to work weeks that run Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, based on operational needs, and offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a shift supplement of 3.5% to base pay (does not apply to current state employees).
  • Shift 3 - This position an eight-hour shift (11:15 p.m. to 8:15 a.m.) assigned to work weeks that run Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday, based on operational needs, and offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus (does not apply to current state employees).
  • Shift 4 - This position is a 12-hour shift (5:45 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.) offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus (does not apply to current state employees).
  • Shift 5 - This position is a 12-hour shift (5:45 p.m. to 6:15 a.m.) offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a shift supplement of 3.5% to base pay (does not apply to current state employees).
PART-TIME

DJJ is actively hiring for part-time resident specialists who already have job experience in corrections, Handle With Care and/or other intervention techniques. There is an immediate need for those available to work nights and/or weekends, but we are willing to work around your existing job schedule.
